Dr. Jennifer Tuteur

Jennifer Tuteur, MD, FAAFP, serves as the County’s Interim Chief Medical Officer, supporting access to quality, timely and evidence-based care in San Diego’s communities. Dr. Tuteur is passionate about improving the health of underserved communities.
She held leadership roles at several Community Health Centers for more than a decade. As Medical Director of the County Medical Services / Low Income Health Program for 5 years, Dr. Tuteur piloted mental health integration and expansion of healthcare coverage prior to the ACA. She volunteered as a Clinical Instructor at UCSD Department of Family Medicine for nearly a decade, and continues to enjoy teaching.
Dr. Tuteur earned her BA from Yale University and her MD at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she published research on family violence. She worked as a Program Analyst in the Office of the Surgeon General, and then completed her residency in Family and Community Medicine in Minnesota.
