Mark Boxer

Mark Boxer is an internationally recognized business leader, innovator and technologist, with over thirty years of experience in healthcare technology, analytics, cyber and digital. Mark holds a Doctorate with Honors in Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina and a second Doctorate in Global Public Health from Arizona Health Sciences. He did post-doctoral work at the University of Oxford, Nuffield School of Primary Care Medicine. He is considered an expert in the application of behavioral economics and in the use of analytics and digital devices to improve population health. In addition, he holds graduate degrees in business and technology from Drexel University and the University of Connecticut.

He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Eastern Connecticut State University for his service to the disability community and shared the AAPD “Justice for All Award” with two U.S. Congressmen.

Subsequent to his retirement from Cigna as Executive Vice President and Global Chief Information and Digital Officer, he joined the venture firm of Health Enterprise Partners as an executive partner and serves as an investment advisor to General Atlantic and Arsenal Capital. Mark sits on several company boards and serves as a mentor and advisor to health tech CEO’s.

Mark moved from the East Coast to Carlsbad recently. He and his wife Michelle have two daughters, Sarah, a local attorney here in San Diego and Elizabeth, a doctoral student at Duke in North Carolina. Mark is also a proud new grandfather of a baby boy born right here at UCSD.
