Michael LaCroix

Michael is a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley.

He was born and raised in Point Loma.  He attended Southern Methodist University where he studied economics and finance, with plans to join his father, and mentor, in the wealth management industry after graduating.

Michael and his wife Lauren reside in Coronado.  They are very active and love to exercise and hike with their dog.  He also loves the game of golf!

He currently serves on the Finance Committee for Options for All, an organization that serves those with developmental or intellectual disabilities and helps them to develop and find employment.  Michael also taught a church Sunday school program to 4th and 5th graders for a few years.

Dr. Adela de la Torre

Education-State University Administration

Dr. de la Torre is President of San Diego State University.

She is the ninth permanent president of SDSU and the first woman to serve in that role. She brings with her 30 years of service in leadership roles within institutions of higher education, including the California State University system, the University of Arizona, and the University of California, Davis, where she served as the vice chancellor for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity– an area in which she is a national leader.

Dr. de la Torre’s grandparents immigrated to the Central Valley from Mexico. She grew up in the Bay Area, where her grandmother and mother taught her important cultural traditions – the importance of family, the value of hard work and the power of education. Her mother went to Modesto Community College and UC-Berkeley and was a public school teacher for 40 years.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in the political economy of natural resources from UC-Berkeley. Her master’s degree and Ph.D. in agricultural and resource economics are also from UC-Berkeley.

She and husband, Stephen Bartlett, are enjoying life in San Diego and all it has to offer.

Betsy Brennan

Associations-Downtown San Diego Partnership

Betsy is the President and CEO of Downtown SD Partnership, a nonprofit organization focused on the economic development and cultural vitality of downtown San Diego.

She obtained her Juris Doctor, with a specialization in land use, at the University of San Diego. She also holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in International Politics and Spanish from the University of Richmond in Virginia.

Betsy has received several noteworthy acknowledgements of her community commitment, but one she especially appreciated was SDSU’s Associated Students Presidential Leadership Award for her collaborative style and commitment to working with students.

She is a former member of the San Luis Obispo de Tolosa Rotary Club and the Incline Village Rotary Club (Lake Tahoe, NV).  She lives in Point Loma with her son, Kai, and daughter Cora, and is grateful to enjoy everything San Diego has to offer.

Marinda is the Development Director for Cygnet Theatre.

She grew up in Olympia, WA.  She attended Western Washington University where she received her degree in Journalism and Public Relations.  It was during her time in college that she found her passion for non-profit fundraising, when was hired to be a Campaign Executive for the United Way.

Marinda has spent her career fundraising for the United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the American Red Cross, before joining Cygnet Theatre.

She loves the outdoors and to travel.  She just bought a plane ticket to Thailand! Volunteering and serving her community is very important to her so she is honored to become a Rotarian.

Allyson is a Tax Senior with CapinCrouse, LLP. Her company is based in Indiana and they work solely with non-profit entities.

She was born and raised in the Inland Empire.  She moved to San Diego to attend Point Loma Nazarene University to study Business Administration.  She obtained her CPA license after graduation.

Allyson spent 7 years working at the San Diego Food Bank, which gave her a close connection with the local community.  She misses that experience so she is very much looking forward to being involved with Rotary.

Jonathan Cole

Jonathan is a Sales Administrator with LeadCrunch.ai. Here he is spearheading a non-profit initiative to leverage machine learning to help veterans and their spouses find meaningful careers in San Diego.

He first got involved with Rotaract when he was 19 years old at SDSU, then eventually joined San Diego Rotaract.  He recently found out that his family has been involved with Rotary for over 83 years!

Jonathan graduated from SDSU with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and was recognized as one of the top ten leaders on campus for excellence in academics, leadership and service.

Ned was in the pharmacy and pharmaceutical healthcare industry for over 40 years.

He is original from the East Coat (NY/NJ area).  He met his wife Karla at Rutgers University where they were both attending pharmacy school. They moved to Los Angeles over 40 years ago where they raised their two sons.  They have one grandson.

Ned and Karla moved to San Diego three years ago to retire and are absolutely loving the San Diego city life! Ned is currently serving on the Board for The Arc of San Diego, a non-profit for mentally and disabled children and adults.

Janessa Goldbeck

Janessa is a Combat Engineer Officer with the United States Marine Corps (5.5 years) and is also the Founding Principal of Sui Generis Strategies, a consulting firm that provides strategic advocacy solutions for 501c3 clients.

She has a long history of involvement with Rotary. She was the President of her Interact Club from 2001-2003 at San Dieguito High School Academy and attended RYLA as a student in 2003. She interned for The Rotarian while a Journalism and African Studies student at Northwestern University, writing several features for the magazine. After many years of moving around with the Marine Corps, Janessa has recently returned to her hometown of San Diego, where she plans to retire next year and remain for many years. She is currently on the Board of the Women’s Museum and is pursing a Masters of Public Administration at USC via their full-time online program.

Rick is the Director of US Sales and Marketing for Atisa Group, an industrial development company in Baja focused on the Blue Ocean Strategy of creating new cross-border opportunities.

He is a former member of the Rotary Club of Lancaster.  He graduated from Whitman College and received an MBA from Pepperdine University.  In his spare time, Rick does motivational speaking engagements.

Marie is the President and CEO of Smart Management III, a dental office management company. She is originally from Boston, Massachusetts.  She attended Bridgewater State College and SDSU.

Marie started Smart Management in 1987, owning and managing dental offices in  the San Diego Area.  In 2000, she sold five of her offices to a national/public company and then started three more.
