Solving the Ocean Plastic Crisis – Pathways, Obstacles, and Solutions

Eleven million metric tons of plastic reach the ocean each year, with the flows expected to nearly triple by 2040. As much as 70% of that plastic reaches the sea from five countries in Asia, and less than 9% of plastic waste is recycled. Understanding the pathways, obstacles, and solutions to marine plastic pollution are critical to addressing the crisis.
