SUMMARY:MLK Choir
DESCRIPTION:The Martin Luther King\, Jr. Community Choir San Diego\, Inc. (MLKCCSD) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  The purpose of the choir is to promote the artistic growth of children and youth in the metropolitan San Diego region; to serve as a cultural ambassador in regional\, national and international concerts and seminars; to promote arts education through performances primarily of traditional and contemporary spirituals and gospel music and provide the historical context for this repertoire.  Our music\, which is inspirational and uplifting\, celebrates the history of the Negro Spiritual. \nSince 1997\, MLKCCSD has been performing gospel concerts to raise funds for educational grants to give to San Diego County high school seniors pursuing a college degree in the Visual or Performing Arts.

SUMMARY:T.J. Zane—Setting Boundaries: Social Media\, Public Officials\, and First Amendment Rights in the Digital Age
DESCRIPTION:Hon. T.J. Zane is one of two Petitioners in O’Connor-Ratcliff v. Garnier\, a case which was argued before the Supreme Court of the United States on October 31\, 2023. The case concerns the First Amendment and public officials’ use of social media. Zane and his colleague petitioned the Supreme Court and presented the following question: “Whether a public official engages in state action subject to the First Amendment by blocking an individual from the official’s personal social-media account\, when the official uses the account to feature their job and communicate about job-related matters with the public\, but does not do so pursuant to any governmental authority or duty.”
