SUMMARY:Club 33 Golf Tournament - Second Round
DESCRIPTION:The first round of the Rotary Golf Tournament for President Peter’s year was held on Friday\, October 8th at the San Diego Country Club. A packed field of 8 (yes\, your read that correctly) golfers enjoyed a wonderful day of camaraderie and fun. \nWith two rounds to go\, Tom Wilson\, our resident PGA professional\, shares the lead with Guy Maddox\, who both shot net 76s. The closest to the pin contest was won by John Anewalt who put his tee shot a mere 4’5” away from the cup from a distance of 137 yards! Alas\, John missed his birdie putt and had to settle for a ho-hum par. \nSAVE THE DATE – NOVEMBER 20! \nOur second round is scheduled for Friday\, November 20th and included on this day will be a special treat for Club 33 golfers who participate—an appearance by the SDSU Women’s Golf Team! Lucky Rotarians may get to play a round with individual members of the Lady Aztecs. Marten Barry’s money is on the SDSU women to out-score every Rotarian\, with the possible exception of our golf professional Tom.\nCost is $116 plus beverage/food cost.\nTee time is TBD. \nPlease contact Marten Barry mbarry@naisandiego.com or Alli Lucas alucas@naisandiego.com if you would like to play in this next round of our tournament. \n

SUMMARY:Grotarian Event - High Tech High Tour & Reception with Founder Larry Rosenstock
DESCRIPTION:Come join the Grotarians for a tour inside the mind of the genius of the founder and creator of High Tech High\, Larry Rosenstock.  He will personally take us through the High Tech High Pt. Loma schools with a thorough\, detailed explanation of the way the school is structured and the success of their students. Known internationally\, the HTH also now has an interact Club sponsored by us!  Food and beverages will be served at the end of the tour. \nDate: Tuesday May 19 th\nTime:  5:30 to 7:30 pm\nPlace: High Tech High Main Pt. Loma campus 2861 Womble Street San Diego CA 92106\nCost:  $20.00 per person\nFriends and family are welcome! \nHigh Tech High in brief:\nHigh Tech High (HTH)\, a public charter school organization in San Diego\, combines challenging academic curriculum with project-based learning\, performance-based assessment\, digital portfolios\, and internships for all students. The HTH design principles—personalization\, adult world connection\, common intellectual mission\, and teacher as designer—signal a radical departure from conventional high school structures and practices. \nHigh Tech High has achieved success with a diverse student population\, admitted by lottery. The 532 graduates in the Class of 2011 (from our five high schools) were admitted to college at a 97% rate\, with 68% planning to attend a four-year university. Of 1\,928 HTH graduates since 2003\, 77% have graduated or are still enrolled in a post-secondary institution\, with 25% of the college graduates holding degrees in STEM fields (science\, technology\, engineering\, or mathematics). In contrast\, only 17% of California college graduates earn degrees in STEM fields. \nCLICK HERE  to register. \nCLICK HERE  to see who registered. \n
