DESCRIPTION:In honor of Veterans Day and as part of our club’s Annual Salute to the Armed Forces\, RDML Bette Bolivar will be joining us as our guest speaker. \nAs a special operations officer (Explosive Ordinance Disposal / Diving and Salvage Community)\, RDML Bolivar has served our Nation in some of the most challenging environments in the world during her long career with the U.S Navy. She now has the responsibility of keeping the critical Navy installations in San Diego operating in support of the Navy Fleet\, fighters and families homeported here and throughout the Southwest region.

DESCRIPTION:San Diego City Attorney Mara W. Elliott will discuss how her office combats domestic violence\, sexual assault\, and sex trafficking through comprehensive services. These services are increasingly important during the pandemic when many victims are sheltering at home with their abusers. The San Diego Family Justice Center offers a safe space for victims to rebuild their lives. Through a collaborative model\, the needs of victims are met\, violence is stopped\, families heal\, and hope is realized. Yvette Lopez-Cooper\, Executive Director of the San Diego Family Justice\, will join the City Attorney for this presentation. City Attorney Elliott looks forward to sharing more with you about this important work.

SUMMARY:Annual Mr./Ms./Mrs. San Diego Program
DESCRIPTION:The Mr./Mrs./Ms. San Diego award has been in existence since 1952. Since 1976\, the San Diego Rotary Club has been in charge of selecting the honoree (or honorees) each year that has contributed outstanding community betterment to our city in various ways. Past recipients include Father Joe Carroll\, Steve Cushman\, Tom Hom\, Betty Peabody\, Leon Williams\, the late Lucy Killea\, Patti Roscoe and Michael Brunker. \nPlease join us on November 19 to celebrate and honor the contributions and achievements of this year’s honoree\, Dr. Fred A. Frye.  \nFred has been a member of San Diego Rotary since 1982\, he served as club president in 1990-91\, and was the first recipient of our club’s Dr. James MacLaggan Award in 1991 for his humanitarian service benefitting children.
