SUMMARY:Sandra Maas: The Power of Storytelling
DESCRIPTION:As a medical reporter and TV news anchor\, veteran journalist Sandra Maas spent her career sharing the stories of others. In 2019 she became the story\, after discovering her male co-anchor was making almost $100k more than she was for doing the same job. When she was fired after bringing it to the attention of management\, she filed an Equal Pay lawsuit against her employer McKinnon Broadcasting Company\, which owns KUSI-TV. This spring at trial\, a San Diego Superior Court jury sided with Sandra\, ruling the station violated the California Equal Pay Act. Sandra shares how the experience changed her life and connected her to the Women’s Museum of California\, where she is now trying to make a difference for women in the workplace. \n
