Youth Protection

All adult and Rotaract participants must be Rotary Youth Certified to attend Camp Enterprise or other club activity involving youth.
Since not all of the timing is under our control, PLEASE MOVE ON THIS NOW.

Youth Protection Certification is a 3-step (in any order) process:

    1. Have a LiveScan done. (This is a background check that requires fingerprinting.) You can do this with any LiveScan vendor BUT you must use the Rotary form, so the results are sent to the District coordinator. Fill in the Applicant section and leave all other information as is. The form is attached to this email. You will take the completed form with your government ID to the LiveScan vendor of your choice. The cost should be around $50. Results are usually returned to the District Rotary Youth Protection Officer within 2 weeks.
    2. Complete and submit the District Youth Volunteer application. This form is also attached to this email. Fill it out and send it to ypo@rotary5340.org
    3. Complete the online training. This FREE training is managed by the state and can be found here:https://mandatedreporterca.com/ Set up an account for yourself and choose the VOLUNTEERS TRAINING module (Select “Training” from the menu at the top of the start page and scroll down to “Volunteers”. We are not Scouts or a religious organization, so select “volunteers” on that page as well). Allow about 90 minutes to go through the training. You can stop/start as needed. When you have completed the training, you’ll be offered a certificate for a payment of about $10. Pay online, download it and send it to ypo@rotary5340.org.

You can do these steps simultaneously and when you’ve completed all 3 steps, you will be certified for any youth programs through Rotary for 5 years. You’ll be notified by the District Youth Protection Officer when all is complete.

Everything you need to know above is summarized above, but the District website contains a more detailed explanations if you’d like to review: https://rotary5340.org/sitepage/youth-protection-and-certification. If you have problems with any of the steps or need any help, please don’t hesitate to send me an email or call. THANK YOU for making the time and effort to protect the youth you will work with!
